Tailored Heating
Philips Photonics infrared power heating systems are ideally suited for many industrial heat treatment applications, where a directed, homogeneous and controlled infrared illumination is beneficial.
High power density exactly where it is needed
Due their high power density and the well-defined heating zone, VCSEL systems can be more efficient than halogen lamps in many heating applications. Because of the narrow spectrum of the VCSELs, also the fraction of absorbed IR power is often higher, depending on material characteristics.
Process diagnostics and control is much easier than in conventional IR heating, as the narrow VCSEL emission spectrum allows for temperature measurement by pyrometers or IR cameras without suffering from stray light of the emitter itself.
Unprecedented control of heating power profile
VCSEL systems are powered by an electronic driver system, enabling switching or pulsing and precise control of the infrared power from zero to full power within milliseconds. Beyond these basic functions, individual radiation zones of a VCSEL module can be controlled independently by setting the current levels of each heating zone individually to its desired level.
This unique feature enables adjustment, change and control not only of the total heating power, but also of also the spatial heating profile. Even dynamically changing heating profiles during operation are possible, enabling an unprecedented level of control in industrial heat treatment processes.
